To test this hypothesis we will determine the biological role of LPS in the following specific aims: Specific Aim 1: To examine the role of LPS in the Salmonella virulence. Using a mouse model of infection with Salmonella, we will examine the role of LPS in Salmonella colonization of the murine host. We will determine the effect of LPS on the susceptibility of the host immune cells to Salmonella infection, and the effect of LPS on the ability of Salmonella to grow in the host.
